This was my first wedding cake and luckily for me the bride was a dream to work with. The only requirements were that it wasn’t a fussy cake and included some lace. So i decided to do a lace design on two of the tiers and then the middle tier was wrapped in a ribbon matching the colour of the bridesmaid dresses.
The bottom tier was a 12″ fruit cake, made with fresh orange zest, mixed peel and the fruit was soaked in fresh orange juice. The middle tier was a 9″ moist buttermilk chocolate cake with real chocolate buttercream and the top tier was a 6″ zingy lemon drizzle cake with lemon buttercream.
